What special precautions should I follow?

Before taking Dolasetron:

It is important to inform your doctor if you have low levels of potassium or magnesium in your blood, if you are taking a diuretic (water pill), have a history of congenital QT syndrome, or are taking a medicine to treat an irregular heartbeat. Dolasetron may affect your heart, especially if you have any of the conditions or are taking any of the medicines listed above.

Dolasetron is in the FDA pregnancy category B. This means that it is not expected to harm an unborn baby. Do not take dolasetron without first talking to your doctor if you are pregnant or if you are planning a pregnancy.

Additionally, it is not known whether dolasetron passes into breast milk. Do not take dolasetron without first talking to your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.
